Jazz saxophonist and award-winning composer Bob Mintzer, a 2017 Grammy nominee, performs with the 18-piece ΒιΆΉΙη Jazz Orchestra at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, to kick off ΒιΆΉΙηβs 2017 Distinguished Artists Series at the Bass School of Music.
His latest album, βAll L.A. Bandβ released by Fuzzy Music, is a finalist in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble category for the 59th Grammy Awards.
Mintzer joins forces with the ΒιΆΉΙη Jazz Orchestra, now in its eighth year, praised by the Oklahoma Gazette for restoring βperformances of full-scale, concert-style, big-band jazz arrangements back to the metro for the first time since the 1980s.β
